Highly regioselective osmium-catalyzed hydroformylation.

The first highly regioselective and general osmium-catalyzed hydroformylation of olefins to aldehydes is reported. The combination of Os3(CO)12 and imidazoyl-substituted phosphine ligands allows n-selective (up to 99%) hydroformylation of bulk aliphatic as well as functional alkenes in good yields (64-87%).

Hydroamination/Heck reaction sequence for a highly regioselective one-pot synthesis of indoles using 2-chloroaniline.

A one-pot indole synthesis consisting of a highly regioselective TiCl(4)-catalyzed hydroamination and a 5-endo Heck cyclization starting from 2-chloroaniline is described, using an in-situ generated, sterically hindered imidazol-2-ylidene palladium complex.

Highly regioselective nitrile oxide dipolar cycloadditions with ortho-nitrophenyl alkynes.

The dipolar cycloadditions of ortho-nitrophenyl alkynes with aryl nitrile oxides has been demonstrated. A range of substituents are tolerated on the alkyne. These reactions proceed with excellent levels of regioselectivity. Subsequent functionalization of the isoxazole scaffold has been demonstrated.

Disulfide catalyzed the highly regioselective conversion of epoxides to halohydrins with elemental halogens

The regioselective ring opening of styrene oxide using elemental iodine and bromine in the presence of disulfides as new catalysts was studied. The conductivity titration and UV spectroscopy were used to study the interaction of iodine with these catalysts.
